Special Agent Matti
Not only does he get to sit in the big chair again, but he also leads his first away mission. The character development that's been going on since The killing game I, Timeless and The disease is paying off; the wet behind the ears Ensign fresh from the Academy is growing up. Rather than seeing Harry as the youth he is you are now seeing the man he will become. It's a precious time in any parent's life, one to be treasured, especially when life can be cut short at any time (remember that Harry has been killed 3 times: by the Vhnori transference device, by the Vidiians, by the Demon planet, and even his deuterium duplicate bit the dust. Not to mention being blown up over several Different timelines and all the close shaves.
In other words, enjoy Harry while you can.
McKenzie's Ensign also gives you a look at life away from the bright lights of the day shift (which is when aliens choose to attack - it's a good thing they're all on UFP time), but in a very different manner than The next generation's Lower decks. That episode was all about worry and tragedy, Warhead is all about the junior members of an experienced crew and the way the actions of the big guns interfere with their lives.
Robert switches characterisations effortlessly, from the relatively benign EMH to the paranoid, obsessed Druoda weapon. His arguments with Garrett really spark: these two haven't done a lot together before and maybe someone will get the idea to do some more! I want more!
Warhead is an intense, personal and philosophical episode that pushes Harry into the fast track to promotion (I predict an extra pip before the end of Season Seven).
