Imagine an entire ocean floating in space. No wait, you don't need to... Thirty days does it for you! And it takes you inside the ocean. And it takes you way deep down to the very heart of it. You wanted to know why they built the Delta Flyer? This is it!
But even better than the special effects is the fact that you get to see Star trek's first field demotion. Plenty of people have been given promotions (field and official) before, but the other direction is so rare it's almost non-existent (certain Admirals are an exception, but that was an official demotion). What's even more juicy is that the demotee (Tom Paris, as if you hadn't guessed by now) was also the recipient of a field promotion! Woo hoo!
The greenies can have a quiet pat on the back for their environmental work as this episode shows just how hard it is to make someone see what they don't want to see. Saving the Earth is an ongoing battle, unfortunately.
*Sighs*
On a much happier note, the oft-mentioned, never-seen Delaney sisters make their first appearance! In a Captain Proton episode no less! As Demonica and Malicia, twin mistresses of evil, no less! Tying up Buster Kincaid (Harry Kim) and threatening him with all sorts of nefarious devices, no less! Which he seems to be enjoying, no less! Woo hoo! Who knew that Harry's a bottom?!
Thirty days is another great episode and just one more reason for everyone on the planet to watch Star trek.
