Hmmm, it's getting a bit predictable, isn't it? The episodes before the season finale dip in quality around volume 10, pick up at 12 then explode at 13. Still, that's all the more reason to watch volume 12!

Living witness takes a good hard look at war crimes, historical revisionism (hello again, China) and archaeological forensics (whew, that's almost technobabble!) The opening scenes are wonderful, the middle is nice and meaty and the ending is surprisingly good. Tim Russ (that's Tuvok to the rest of you) handles the direction of this episode very well. The actors are out of their normal characterisation and enjoying the difference.

The miseries of war and rose-coloured glasses are held up to the light for all to see and understand. It's you who must apply an appreciation of the unacceptable to your lives.

This is one of those really good episodes with lots of guts - good solid Star trek. Definitely worth watching, although I wonder how they managed to leave a duplicate copy of the EMH on a distant planet when they can't even copy it for themselves.
