Episode propaganda

Rushing to the aid of an eminent scientist, Tuvok (Tim Russ) and Neelix (Ethan Phillips) are stranded on the surface of an endangered planet. Their only means of survival is to break through the ionosphere in an orbital lift. However, it soon becomes obvious that their party contains a deadly traitor...

Intelligence report

In a clever move, the writers created a state where Tuvok and Neelix got on so badly that they would have to be forced to bond in a life and death situation. Where have I heard that before?

Rise is not the greatest of episodes and the effects are a bit dodgy, but it's also not the worst: it's more like one of those episodes that they throw in every now and then to give you something to complain about, but which you will still watch. The artificiality of the situation is definitely worth complaining about. Are they now saying that no-one is going to ask where the asteroids which are suddenly bombarding the endangered planet are coming from? Are asteroids showers so common in this system that no-one thought to wonder?

Anyhow, it's not such a bad episode that you need to avoid it, but don't get yourself all hyped up over the title, especially in light of the earlier episode, Blood fever.
