A distress call from the planet Platonius results in Kirk (William Shatner), Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and McCoy (Deforest Kelley) going there to aid the stricken leader, Parmen (Liam Sullivan). However, Parmen and his people are not all they seem. For while they pretend friendship and democracy, they, in fact, practice rule by force of mind. They immediately attempt to enclave Kirk and company and force them to undergo humiliating experiences.
