Intelligence report

What amazes me as i watch all these old episodes, all of which I have seen before, but few of which I can remember, is that they are consistently good. Intelligent, thought provoking, philosophical, questioning and replete with the UFP ethics Trekkies have come to know and love.

What delights me is that despite the 60s mentality and imagery the shows hold up to my cynical gaze 30 years on.

Anyhoo, this is an emotional, suspenseful episode, full of fear and compassion. Like the previous episodes in the first season, it's a drama with a moral undertone: What is your place in the world? How much of yourselves can you change before you are no longer Human? Should you change it even if you could?

The only question that isn't given an explanation is why the planet is a duplicate of Earth. Perhaps you'll find out in a future episode. Or perhaps someone ix-nayed the subtlety factor because they thought no-one would get it (I am talking about USAmerican audiences, here, remember).
