A simulated war game suddenly turns into a real-life fight for survival. Riker and Picard are playing war games against each other and Riker is assigned to the USS Hathaway, a hopelessly unequipped 80-year-old vessel. Acting as an observer of the exercise is Sirna Kolrami (Roy Brocksmith), a master strategist from the Zakdorn race. Riker does well against the superior Enterprise and then the Ferengi arrive.
