The crew of the UFP supply ship USS Lantree are all found to have died of old age! Their last port of call was the Darwin Genetic Research Station. The Enterprise heads there to investigate and warn the scientists of the potential danger. At the research station are some surprising discoveries, including a 12-year-old child the size of a fully-grown man and some very old scientists.
