The brilliant Doctor Ira Graves (W Morgan Sheppard) is dying. He has one of the greatest living Human minds but is enduring the final stages of a terminal disease. An away team, led by Data, beams down after receiving a distress call from Graves' young assistant Kareen Brianon (Barbara Alyn Woods). Data and the dying scientist develop a strong rapport that continues even after Graves' death.
