Intelligence report

Directed by Alexander Siddig, this episode is one of the funniest and at the same time biting social satires DS9 has ever produced.

The whole issue of Ferengi feminism (and clothing!) has been on the boil since their race was first introduced in The next generation, and it comes to a head in this episode. Moogie (aka Ishka) has, of course, been the instrumental character in driving this plot line, and she and Zek get a good run at it on this video. The ramifications for Ferengi politics, economics and society are enormous.

The humour is both in your face and subtle, the pace is suitably frenetic and the story rich. It's good to see the writers committing themselves to permanent events. There are issues besides female emancipation which I found rather interesting, but I can't even mention them without spoiling the surprise for you. I guess this is another episode that you'll just have to watch!
