While leaving for a vacation with Keiko (Rosalind Chao), O'Brien (Armin Shimerman) encounters Boone (John Beck), a former crewmate from the Rutledge. The two exchange pleasantries and O'Brien hurries off, eager to start his trip. In his haste, O'Brien fails to notice that Boone has recorded his voice. Later, as he and Keiko head off on holiday in a runabout, they are stopped by a Cardassian vessel. To Keiko's horror, Gul Evek (Richard Poe) beams aboard and arrests O'Brien, taking him back to Cardassia Prime for trial where there is only one verdict: guilty...

An uphill battle where all the tenets of the UFP (read: USA) legal systems have no standing: no testimony, no jury, pre-determined guiLieutenant... it's a race against time everyone back at DS9 must find a way to save Miles from the inevitable penalty, a race which you know they have to win because regular characters can't be killed off, but is interesting nonetheless.
