Marritza, (Harris Yulin) a Cardassian in need of medical attention, is beamed aboard DS9. Major Kira (Nana Visitor) places him under immediate arrest since the disease he suffers from could only have been contracted at a Bajoran slave labour camp. She accuses him of being Gul Darhe'el, a war criminal but then she has to try and prove it...
Special Agent Matti
The Cardassian talent for obfuscation in full stride.
With subterfuge after subterfuge coming in fast order it is hard to know where one stands, which makes for interesting viewing. There is a cop-out at the end when the guilty party confesses all, but it's not too bad because you've solved the mystery by then.
Having just had a nasty war and occupation on Bajor certainly provides a lot of scope for the dark side of Humanoid nature to be exposed - it was a good choice by the producers.
The performance by Harris Yulin is very good. His character is subtly drawn across a wide range of emotions. What a pity we won't see more of him.
