Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) is a shallow, self-obsessed male model who has lost his position as the #1 model, and is recruited by rogue CIA agent Matilda Jeffries (Christine Taylor) and brainwashed by the mysterious Katinka (Milla Jovovich) into assassinating the President of Malaysia. Meanwhile, he also has to deal with nemesis, Hansel (Owen Wilson), a younger, blonde model who is now the hot stuff.

Special Agent Matti
Oh dear, just when you thought it was safe to go back on the catwalk...
Male modelling is as weird a business as you will ever find yourself in, if you have the look. I am a former international male model and I can tell you that everything you will see in this film is real. Scarily real. Fortunately for your sanity, Ben takes as much piss out of the industry as he can, and that's quite a lot in 1½ hours. Unfortunately, there's a lot more piss still out there (not to mention testosterone).
Meanwhile, Zoolander is a really funny undermining of the shallowest of the shallow. With a little tailoring it could be one of the Spinal Tap crew's mockumentaries, and it's all the more funny if you've ever worked in the industry - as model, art director, make-up, hair, photographer, agent or Intern. Ben and Owen are even more funnier for not being good looking enough to be male models while the whole spy genre doesn't get off very lightly, either.
And pose... and pose... and pose...
