Theatrical report
Man, those Post-war Japanese took everything they could from the USA without once becoming less than absolutely Japanese. The suits, the sunglasses, the stockings... and yet the mysterious stranger could just as easily be a ronin returning for revenge with his katana.
Now, even though Youth of the beast (Yaju no seishun) is afflicted with 1960s sensibilities and timing [See! The amazing attention spans! - Director of Intelligence.] it's still a fun bit of inter-criminal violence that has lots of potential for a modern remake à la Infernal affairs (Wu jian dao)/The departed.
The crime, Japan movie Youth of the beast (Yaju no seishun) is directed by Seijun Suzuki and stars Jo Shishido, Misako Watanabe, Tamio Kawaji.
