The battle of the sexes heats up in Columbia Pictures' comedy The ugly truth. Abby Richter (Katherine Heigl) is a romantically challenged morning show producer whose search for Mr Perfect has left her hopelessly single. She's in for a rude awakening when her bosses team her with Mike Chadway (Gerard Butler), a hardcore TV personality who promises to spill the ugly truth on what makes men and women tick.

Can you say, cliché? A while back there was a movie made about a reporter and her cameraman and it starred Hugh Jackman (Someone like you): The ugly truth is a re-vamped version of that with cute people and different characters. I'm more than happy to see a romantic comedy (aka chick flick) but please, someone, ANYONE... do something DIFFERENT! Yeah it's got Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl but it's the same darned story! Why not make a Danielle Steele novel into a silver-screen feature instead of the daytime arvo dramas (The Ring (1996), Safe Harbour (2007), Family Album (1994)) that always contain out-dated actors who can't get work any more cause they're too pumped up with the self-worthlessness. Mills & Boon may be seedy - and if you read enough of their books they become repetitive to the point of boredom - but they're different, and their sales aren't going down any time soon.
The romantic comedy movie The ugly truth is directed by Robert Luketic and stars Gerard Butler, Katherine Heigl, Cheryl Hines.
