Movie propaganda

Rugby. Tom Jones. Male voice choirs. Shirley Bassey. Llanfairpwllgwyngellgogerythgwynrobollantisilioagagogoch. Snowdonia. Prince of Wales. Anthony Hopkins. Daffodils. Sheep. Sheep shaggers. Coal. State quarries. The Blaenau Ffestiniog dinkey-dooey miniature railway. Now if that's your idea of thousands of years of Welsh culture, you can't blame us for trying to liven the place up a little bit can you?

It's a sunny day in sweltering Swansea, and Dylan Thomas' Graveyard of ambition has come to life. Bryn Cartwright, wealthy roofing contractor, rugby club chairman and local kingpin smugly rules the roost until Fatty Lewis has an accident working on one of Bryn's dodgy roofing jobs. Fatty heads an eccentric family: daughter Adie is receptionist at a Gentlemen's health resort, and his two sons - the Twins - like to borrow expensive cars from their unsuspecting owners, usually while under the influence of any illegal substances that they may have to hand.

Following his accident, Fatty ends up in hospital, and the twins visit Bryn at his home - the expensively appointed Ponderosa - to demand compensation. Bryn dismisses them with contempt and the twins vow revenge.

Executive produced by the Trainspotting guys.

Theatrical report

Pulp fiction meets Trainspotting in the world renown international jet set hot spot of Swansea, which I believe is somewhere in the arse end of Wales.

Actually, Twin town is to Trainspotting as Trainspotting is to Pulp fiction. Dirty, gritty, trashy, over the top drug/kill/blood/steal documentary-melodrama. If that makes sense. Whole communities with no redeeming features, where the only choice for hero role model are a couple of wasted punks falling through life with less hope than a budgie in a cat farm.

Everyone acts brilliantly, the dialogue is rich, the accents are as thick as leek soup, the comedy is blacker than the inside of a coal mine. Twin town is a ripper of an action/comedy/farce/satire thingy that is recommended to anyone who thought Quentin was almost onto something.
