Justin Cobb (Lou Taylor Pucci) throws himself and everyone around him into chaos when he attempts to break free from his addiction to his thumb.

Well, like most of you, I don't know what to make of Thumbsucker; it's something like the illegitimate offspring of Napoleon Dynamite and The life aquatic with Steve Zissou. You need to take a deep breath, sit back and relax into your chair - not too relaxed, though, as you'll doze off.
Lou Taylor Pucci is great as the misguided, misinformed, misunderstood eponymous protagonist: dry, dazed, delightful. And he looks like he could be the son of Tilda Swinton, an amazing feat not just because moviemakers don't pay much attention to commonality of appearance when casting films (just bums on seats) but because Tilda Swinton doesn't look like anyone else on the planet. Mike Mills has created an unusual film, one which won't knock you off your seat but one which will give you something to think about.
