Audiences everywhere are in for a Smurfy good time as the Smurfs make their first 3D trip to the big screen in Columbia Pictures'/Sony Pictures Animation's hybrid live-action and animated family comedy, The Smurfs. When the evil wizard Gargamel (Hank Azaria) chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours - in fact, smack dab in the middle of New York's Central Park. Movie Review
I can’t say I was a huge fan of the old Smurfs cartoon, but I was pleasantly surprised to find the Smurfs revamped and in the Big Apple. They still sing and insert the word ‘Smurf’ randomly into sentences but they are more watchable and at one point the man who helps them in the city actually says their singing is annoying. The antics of the bumbling evil sorcerer and his cat also make for some laughs as they try to catch the Smurfs. It’s definitely something the whole family can watch.
