What a glorious feeling!
In 1927, Don Lockwood (Gene Kelly) and Lina Lamont (Jean Hagen) are a famous on-screen romantic pair. Lina, however, mistakes the on-screen romance for real love. Don has worked hard to get where he is today, with his former partner Cosmo Brown (Donald O'Connor). When Don and Lina's latest film is transformed into a musical, Don has the perfect voice for the songs. But Lina - well, even with the best efforts of a diction coach, they still decide to dub over her voice. Kathy Selden (Debbie Reynolds), an aspiring actress, is brought in and while she is working on the movie, Don falls in love with her. Will Kathy continue to "aspire", or will she get the break she deserves?

Theatrical report
I saw nothing. This DVD was stolen from my office but I won't name names because that won't get them back or bring the two scum-sucking culprits to justice.Meanwhile, when he first saw Singin' in the rain all those years ago, it was a pretty damned amazing song and dance flick with great numbers by Cyd and Donald (it even got an homage from Guy, the well-endowed, muscle-bound show queen in The full Monty). It's a classic of its genre and a must see for every theatrically inclined owner of a DVD player.
