Behind the disguise of good hides the soul of evil.

Father Alex Bernier (Heath Ledger), a conflicted, rebellious priest travels to Rome to investigate the strange death of his mentor. The young priest, a troubled artist with whom he shares a turbulent past, and his closest friend and colleague Father Thomas Garrett (Mark Addy) discover the mysterious death may be the work of The Sin-eater, an ancient figure who plays God on earth by absolving the unforgivable of their sins outside the Church, allowing great evil to go unpunished.

Theatrical report

Sorry, dudes, but Heath is just too young and good-looking to pull off the role of disgruntled Catholic priest Father Alex Bernier in Brian Helgeland's supernatural thriller The Sin-eater. Makes a change from The Passion of the Christ, but.
