The fun, the fashion, the friendship: Sex and the city 2 brings it all back and more as Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) take another bite out of The Big Apple - and beyond - carrying on with their busy lives and loves in a sequel that truly sparkles. What happens after you say "I do"? Life is everything the ladies ever wished it to be, but it wouldn't be Sex and the city if life didn't hold a few more surprises... this time in the form of a glamorous, sun-drenched adventure that whisks the women away from New York to one of the most luxurious, exotic and vivid places on earth, where the party never ends and there's something mysterious around every corner. It's an escape that comes exactly at the right moment for the four friends, who are finding themselves in - and fighting against - the traditional roles of marriage, motherhood and more. After all, sometimes you just have to get away with the girls.

Theatrical report
Whilst I'm not a loyal follower of the TV series, and I do somewhat think it has been completely over-hyped, I did enjoy the movie more than I expected to. It's not a film you go to see for a captivating storyline or dramatic twists but if you are just after a movie fun night with the girls or even your partner, its not a bad choice. It is crude and has many sexual references, which is obvious due to the title, it's probably not everyone's cup of tea - but it is light-hearted, quite humorous and the overall message is well received. Each character brings with them a scenario most of us can relate to, whether it be worn out by mothering, feeling unappreciated in the workplace or general marriage struggles. It strongly references the need for balance necessary to juggle such realities.
I applaud director Michael Patrick King for boldly challenging the general stereotype of "older" women who are expected to be domesticated and submissive. He bravely embraces feminist views that women should be liberated and equal to men in a way that is likeable and relevant to our culture. Each character is unique in personality but each, despite circumstance, embraces independence and represents a woman of the 21st century, one who loves to shop, loves men, nights out and girly lunches, all while searching for that perfect balance, moderation and liberation to be herself. It speaks highly of the importance of friendship and the support that comes with it.
While the situations are ones most of us can relate to I'm not sure how many of us walk around our home in Gucci shoes and designer dresses and have a clothing change every ten minutes, none-the-less it has plenty of eye candy for any shopaholic, and more-so plenty of man candy which I'm sure no straight female will complain about.
I suggest watching the first film before you see the second: I struggled to thread the sequel together in the beginning due to lack of memory as to how the first movie finished. But other than that it was enjoyable, mind you I went into it with not a lot of expectation which also helped I'm sure.
The comedy, drama, romance movie Sex and the city 2 is directed by Michael Patrick King and stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis.
