The mission is a man.

It is 6 June 1944. filled with hope and resolve, nothing in the world could have prepared the soldiers for the battle they are about to fight. Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks) is about to take on his biggest challenge yet - to get himself and his men past the gauntlet and survive the small strip of sand at Omaha Beach.

After surviving the bloodshed, Captain Miller is now faced with an even bigger challenge and is ordered to take his squad behind enemy lines on a dangerous mission to find and bring back one man - Private James Ryan (Matt Damon). Ryan is the youngest of four brothers, the other three tragically killed in action within days of each other. As they go deeper into enemy territory, Captain Miller's men question his orders. Why is the life of one man worth risking eight... Why is the life of this private worth more than their own?
