Movie propaganda
A young woman travels from New York to Berlin to discover what is behind her mother's silence about her childhood and to meet the woman who saved her from the Nazis. While learning about the past she learns of her mother's involvement in Rosenstrasse where Jews married to Germans were rounded up and held in 1943. Von Trotta's poignant drama re-creates an extraordinary act of courage that would ultimately thwart the Nazis.
