Stephen King's Rose red is the chilling tale of Beaumont university psychology professor Doctor Joyce Reardon (Nancy Travis), who has expanded her field to include paranormal phenomena. She is determined to prove to the viciously cynical department chairman that the unexplained really exists and really does happen.
Joyce commissions a team of six individuals, each of whom possesses a particular extra-sensory skill, such as telepathy, telekinesis and auto-writing (conveying messages from beyond). Among them is Annie (Kimberly J Brown), a 15-year-old autistic girls whose psychic abilities are as powerful as they are incomprehensible.
Joyce wants to use the combined talents of her group to literally wake up a supposedly dormant haunted mansion, Rose Red, built in 1907 by Seattle oil magnate John P Rimbauer. His wife, Ellen, had spent her life adding on to the house - bizarre rooms like a mirror-floored library and stairs leading nowhere - until she mysteriously disappeared into it. Yet in the decades since Mrs Rimbauer vanished and the construction stopped, the house has gotten even bigger, seemingly all by itself.
The efforts of Joyce's team unleash the tortured spirits who dwell within and uncover horrifying secrets of the generations who lived and died there, forcing some of the team to confront their own inner demons.
Also starring Matt Keeslar as Steve Rimbauer, David Dukes as Professor Miller, Judith Ivey as Cathy Kramer, Melanie Lynskey as Rachel Wheaton, Matt Ross as Emery Waterman, Julian Sands as Nick Hardaway, Kevin Tighe As Victor Kandinsky, Julia Campbell as Ellen Rimbauer, Emily Deschanel As Pam Asbury, Laura Kenny as Kay Waterman, Tsidii Leloka as Sukeena, Yvonne Sciò as Deanna Petrie, Jimmi Simpson as Kevin Bollinger and Robert Blanche as George Wheaton.
