Ring 2 picks up exactly where Ring left off, starting with an extremely gruesome revelation about Sadako's fate down the well. Reiko Asakawa (Nanako Matsushima) has disappeared with her young son, her father has fallen victim to Sadako's homicidal video tape images, and the investigative baton is picked up by two more reporters and Doctor Heihachiro Ikuma (Daisuke Ban), who imagines he can explain it all scientifically...

Theatrical report

Well, it wasn't the first one so it seemed to spend a lot of time going over the same ground. It's much like seeing Unbreakable after you've just seen The sixth sense. The sense of neverending badness doesn't pervade the cinema like the first time, either, but it's still a more realistic scariness than Scary movie 2.
