Movie propaganda

TV reporter Ángela (Manuela Velasco) and her crew are sent out to spend a night with firemen for the programme When you're asleep. When an emergency call arrives from a Barcelona block of flats, they accompany the fire-fighters inside. Big mistake...

Trapped in a building in quarantine the only thing that matters is hiding, surviving, overcoming the fear... And to keep on recording.

Theatrical report

First words as the credits started rolling: 28 weeks later meets Cloverfield. To be honest (as I usually am but that line is great filler for reviews) I was not looking forward to seeing a Spanish horror film let alone a foreign film at all. The last one I saw was Pan's labyrinth (El laberinto del fauno) and that was semi-disappointing. What I do enjoy about foreign horror films (Ring, Ring 2) is that there is always an introductory period where nothing happens. Some times in fact that period is so long (Ring) that the viewer sometimes forgets that it's a horror film that they came to see and when that "frightening" moment does happen... BAM! They're afraid & frightened! It's great, I can't say enough about what a good film this was. Plus it was also a good film to help promote the Spanish Film Festival in Sydney. I saw a glimpse during the preview section of some claymation and a comedy or two. It looks to be (for a change) a proper selection of the best Spanish films. I'm uncertain if when the reference to, "Spanish" is specific to Spain or if they expanded the selection to the "Spanish spoken here" countries. In either case, I would recommend this film to those of my friends who don't even like subtitles because the action within the film quite often did not require subtitles which is pleasing as I don't like them either.

The horror, Spain, thriller movie [Rec] is directed by Jaume Balagueró, Paco Plaza and stars Manuela Velasco, Javier Botet, Manuel Bronchud.
