Movie propaganda

Who said saving the world can't be entertaining?

Razzle dazzle: A journey into dance lifts the curtain on the eager members of Mr Jonathon's Dance Academy (The Jazzketeers) as they prepare for Australia's most prestigious dance competition.

Amidst parental politics, dance school rivalry, creative controversy and the hysterics of pushy stage mothers Mr Jonathan stands true to his vision - not only does he want to entertain, he wants to educate. With his unique routines, like the Kyoto Protocol Shuffle, Mr Jonathan aspires to reflect the oppression and injustices in the world.

Theatrical report

If you've ever been involved in the world of dance then Razzle dazzle: A journey into dance is going to bring back some unpleasant memories for you. Perhaps you will even need therapy. Some parts are a little over the top (yes, I know that this is The Dance™ and it is therefore to be expected), especially Kerry Armstrong's stage-mother-from-Hell, but over all, this is a wonderful horror movie. Oops, I mean mockumentary.

Ben Miller is perfectly cast as the ineffectual Mr Jonathon: weak, pathetic, English. The kids are great, too, and there's lots for the kids in the audience but Razzle dazzle is all about the adults. Someone really should make being a parent something that only happens after being examined and approved by a number of government agencies as free-breeding is just too dangerous to be allowed to continue.

Stay through the end credits because there's a little something for you at the end.

The Australia, comedy, spoof movie Razzle dazzle: A journey into dance is directed by Darren Ashton and stars Kerry Armstrong, Ben Miller, Nadine Garner.
