Movie propaganda
When Kym (Anne Hathaway) returns to the Buchman family home for the wedding of her sister Rachel (Rosemarie Dewitt), she brings a long history of personal crisis, family conflict and tragedy along with her. The wedding couple's abundant party of friends and relations have gathered for a joyful weekend of feasting, music and love, but Kym - with her biting one-liners and flair for bombshell drama - is a catalyst for long-simmering tensions in the family dynamic.

Theatrical report
Any movie named Rachel's wedding video is bound to be a chick flick. And you now what? This is. Most of the film is what you'd get from a wedding videographer (albeit in 35mm Technicolour) and the bride has chosen a Hindu theme, right down to the elephant wedding cake. Holy Krishna, Batman.
The acting is good but there's so little of it. For what seems like 30 minutes, spread throughout the film, is a drama about two unknown families getting together for a weekend together. There are skeletons (thank Ganesh) in the closets of the messed-up Anglo-American family so there is some mystery while the African-American family has soldiers in Iraq so there is some topicality. Unfortunately, it's a bit like Girl, interrupted without Angelina Jolie's character (she was the real psycho).
Chicks might enjoy Rachel getting married but don't take your boyfriends because you'll scare them off with all the wedding stuff.
The drama movie Rachel getting married is directed by Jonathan Demme and stars Anne Hathaway, Rosemarie Dewitt, Mather Zickel.
