Billy von Huber (Alex D Linz), the son of Doctor Wilhelm von Huber (James Woods) befriends the chimpanzee that is being trained by Doctor Donnie McGuiness (Annabeth Gish) to be shot into space as a test before the first American in space, Alan Shepard (Mark Moses), can make the same trip.
Loosely based upon the true story of Doctor Werhner von Braun's Project Mercury, which sent the first chimpanzee into space.
