Threat advisory: Under evaluation
Movie propaganda
Quitting is the true story of Hongsheng Jia, a Chinese actor who gained fame in the late 1980s playing gangsters and heroes in a series of Chinese B-movies. Jia's naturally fragile psychological state, coupled with his experimentation with drugs, gradually lead him into a state of despair. Jia's parents (Fengsen Jia and Xiuling Chai), distraught at his addiction, soon travel to Beijing to be with their son. Interestingly, every character in Quitting is played by a real person who was part of Jia Hongsheng's life.
