It was created to live on Mars. Now, it is loose on earth.
Doctor Nancy Burnham (Theresa Russell) and her team have developed a powerful, evolutionary new organism called Project VIPER. it was developed to help colonise inhospitable environments like Mars. It was never intended to be released on Earth.
But when the shuttle mission to test VIPER goes tragically wrong and the second prototype is stolen from the Novagen laboratory, VIPER is unleashed on our world. With no way to control it and no idea if it can be stopped, Burnham is joined by special agent Mike Connors (Patrick Muldoon) in a high-stakes race against time to destroy what she created... before it replaces mankind at the top of our food chain.
