A powerful husband.An unfaithful wife.
A jealous lover.
All of them have a motive.
Each of them has a plan.
Elegant and stylish heiress Emily Bradford (Gwyneth Paltrow) lives in stifling confinement with her millionaire industrialist husband Steven Taylor (Michael Douglas). Desperate to escape, she finds momentary fulfillment in her affair with struggling downtown artist David Shaw (Viggo Mortensen). Thinking she has found the love of her life, Emily sets about planning to dissolve her unhappy marriage to start anew with Shaw. But can a woman of such wealth trust anybody to truly love her?
For a man as thoroughly controlling as Steven Taylor, it is only a matter of time before Emily's affair is uncovered. Sure that he has lost her but unable to let her go, Steven begins to plan the perfect murder - with Emily as the target. Soon, Emily becomes a helpless pawn in a terrifying game.
Also starring David Suchet. Based on the stage play Dial M for murder.

Theatrical report
Woo-hoo!A perfect murder had I and my flatmate (Fabio) on the edge of our seats. The plot twisted and turned like a shark on a hook. The continual sense of danger, from all comers, from all sides, was hu-u-u-ugely intense. It was excellent.
The characters were all deeper than you'd expect, their motives lurking somewhere in the dark, murky places of the soul. Michael Douglas plays the ultra rich mature man well, although it's not his first time; Gwyneth Paltrow plays the independently wealthy trophy wife well, although it's not her first time, either; Viggo Mortensen plays the other man/starving artist well - he even created most of the art.
Fabio was in raptures over the film. The money, the beautiful women, the expensive suits, the powerful men, the luxury, and then there was the tension, the excitement, the drama! He gave it a big thumb up, and Fabio has big thumbs!
If you like thrillers, then you won't be disappointed with A perfect murder - it's well worth the price of a video.
