Movie propaganda

It's heading into another hot summer in Louisiana in the year 1965 and the local high schools are gearing up for the basketball championships. But this time the game has taken over high schools all over America and all the familiar trimmings are visible: cute cheerleaders, screaming fans and escalating team rivalries leading up to a big season finale.

But while everything seems squeaky clean, a vital element is missing - the lack of what seems unthinkable today. With suppressed injustice it appears that there are more lines dividing the game than actions on the court and black high school teams are actually excluded from competing in the most important game of the season.

Then one day, a young, idealistic priest named Joseph Verrett (Andre Braugher) finds himself with a whistle in his hand; the reluctant new coach wrestles to instruct a talented but undisciplined bunch of jocks. Unwittingly, he steps into a breach that many before him have avoided, soon finding himself igniting much more than just friendly match rivalry - and the game will never bee the same again!

Also starring Rip Torn.
