This adaptation of Blake Nelson's novel follows 16-year-old skateboarder Alex (Gabe Nevins), who accidentally kills a security guard outside Paranoid Park, Portland's most infamous skateboarding park. When he decides to say nothing, he takes on a crushing burden of guilt with huge ramifications.

Paranoid Park is a grey companion piece to Elephant. Where the latter was full of colour and movement, the former is a dull, urban, gritty, brownish-grey and the death is a random piece of minor violence that has consequences out of all proportion with its intent. That's a nice piece of real life right there.
