Driven by evil.

Late at night on a lonely freeway...

Senga Wilson (Madeleine Stowe) and her daughter Nat (Mischa Barton) have a long journey ahead of them. As they travel through the night, they encounter a series of strange characters and surreal sights - a holidaying couple photographing the site of a car crash, a baby crawling in the middle of the road and a Recovery Man (Norman Reedus) trawling the roads waiting for an accident to happen.

Breaking from their trip and its nightmarish visions, they encounter a mysterious backpacker (Bijou Phillips) who entices Nat away with the offer of freedom and the promise of an alternative existence with a young blood-lusting cult. Senga gives chase and is driven into a dark, deranged world where she must confront the nightmares of her past to protect her daughter.

Will her dark secrets fuel her daughter's anger or will she save Nat from becoming another young victim driven by evil?

Theatrical report

Well, it tries hard, but you know Octane isn't going to win any awards when you realise that the whole soundtrack is played on a keyboard. It's the kind of script that some dude writes after watching too much late night/early morning television and maybe one too many pizzas [Oxymoron - Director]. It's occasionally tense - people wandering around at night without turning the lights on will do that - but even Joyride did it better.
