A mother's pain, a son's courage, a story of sacrifice and triumph.
After the murder of her husband, Emma (Suzanne Somers) turned to alcohol for comfort, leaving her son Charlie (Robert Desiderio) to shoulder the responsibility of caring for them both. Now a mature teenager, Charlie confronts his mother after embarrassing herself one too many times socially and convinces her to get treatment. Although Emma has finally taken control of her life, Charlie's problems aren't over - his girlfriend (Selma Blair) is pregnant. One huge responsibility is replaced by another as Charlie must now abandon his life-long dream of attending university as Emma seeks to make amends for the past and prepare for a better future.
