In the winter of 1974, Frank Sinatra (Dennis Hopper) made a little mistake. He spent a few days in Australia.
Rod Blue (Joel Edgerton) is a battling rock promoter going out of business, doing the best to escape the shadow thrown by his father - a legendary front-page gangster onto his third wife. He has one last chance and he grabs it. He shows up in LA to convince Sinatra's people he's the one to promote Old Blue Eyes' comeback tour in Australia. Rod's young, he's green but he can think on his feet and he can pitch. Mickey Rudin (David Hemmings) is sceptical. But Sinatra likes Rod's style...

It's good! Joel Edgerton fills the screen with star quality (even if he's only fourth on the poster), even when he has his clothes on! Dennis Hopper does a great impression of Old Blue Eyes with the help of an awesome off-screen vocaliser. Melanie Griffith plays yet another nymphette with unnatural hair.
The night we called it a day is an instant Aussie classic!
