Theatrical report

Mystic Power Rangers of Tyr Na Nog.

Yep, this film is Power Rangers in ancient Ireland, with flashy armour, zappy weapons, faeries, monsters and great Irish accents. It has the appearance of the first four episodes condensed into one movie length movie, with the unfulfilled quest to appear on the next one. There are goodies and baddies galore with the odd moral thrown in for good measure (like "Strength comes from co-operation" and "True magic comes from within").

The dialogue is, like the acting, pretty bland. Obviously it's pitched at a specific demographic: kids who like Teenage Mutant Ninja Mystic Power Rangers. It's mindless drivel (the gaelic druids would be turning in their trees if they could see their history portrayed like this) but it will do as fuel for the electronic baby-sitter (ie the VCR).
