Smart, beautiful and headstrong, Alexis (Kate Hudson) is the girl of Dustin's (Jason Biggs) dreams. But after only five weeks of dating, the love-struck Dustin is coming on so strong that Alexis is forced to slow things down... permanently.
Devastated and desperate to get her back, Dustin turns to his best friend, Tank (Dane Cook), the rebound specialist. A master of seducing and offending women, Tank gets hired by freshly dumped guys to take their ex girlfriends out on the worst date of their lives, an experience so horrible it should send them running gratefully back to their beaus.

In as much as there can be a guy romantic comedy, My best friend's girl is a guy romantic comedy. It's about a bastard who deceives women by being the worst kind of boyfriend a bloke can be without beating a girl up. He enjoys being a prick. He even uses the "cunt" word (oh, sorry, did I say that out loud?) in front of women. (I have been informed by a lesbian that people should only use the word if they have one.) Dane Cook is the bad boy that women go for because he's a bad boy. There seems to be a lot of that: women say the want a nice boy but get excited by a bad boy. I sometimes wonder what it all means but am yet to find a satisfactory answer. In many ways this is a courageous movie for its use of the real world as a setting for a romantic comedy as they only ever occur in Hollywoodland. Remember that men are bastards. Dane Cook makes a great bastard. He's almost as bad as Alec Baldwin.
On the chick flick side of the coin, remember that there's no man quite so attractive to a woman as one who needs to be changed. Women like to have little hobbies. Like men. Anyway, there are shades of The taming of the shrew to this film with it's emphasis on changing peoples' characters for the sake of a relationship. Then there's the whole redemption of the bad boy, the wedding, the unlucky in love nice guy, the flowering of womanhood and the sexual liberation of a fully-menstruating woman of the new millennium. Not to mention the happy ending for those who deserve it.
Also, I've never noticed before that Kate Hudson has A-cup breasts (or maybe even A minus) but she almost gets her kit off a couple of times and it's impossible to not notice. I googled "Kate Hudson breast size" and saw pictures, so it's true! Who knew? And who knew that you can do hypnosis in order to get bigger breasts? It's a great big world out there.
