Love Story in the city of dreams.
Rita (Laura Herring) is abandoned on Mulholland Drive, following a car accident, suffering from amnesia. She makes her way to an apartment where she meets Betty Elms (Naomi Watts), an aspiring actress, who helps her put the pieces of her life, and the mystery of it all, back together. Elsewhere, other stories and characters weave into this ensemble piece, including Adam Kesher (Justin Theroux), a director with mobster problems, and a man whose dream comes true...

Theatrical report
Memento without the clues, Vanilla Sky without Tom Cruise.
David takes you on an extended trip through the subconscious of a hysteric, twisting plot, characters, location and reality with little concern for Hollywood's ingrained clichés. A road map is not in David's bag of tricks.
If you're into being mind-fucked, Mulholland Drive will deliver the goods, it's just that I am a little more vanilla (no pun intended).
Having been told that things aren't what they seem, you'll have an easier time of it than I, who was often lost as Naomi plays several characters who all seem to be played by different actors. It's a great comment on her abilities (not to mention hair and make-up) but it didn't help when it came to figuring out what's going on.
You have been warned.
