Movie propaganda

It's been four years since the alien-seeking agents averted an intergalactic disaster. K (Tommy Lee Jones) has since returned to the comforts of civilian life while J (Will Smith) continues to work for the MIB. But when an evil alien monster takes the entire MIB building hostage, J must convince K - who has absolutely no memory of his time with the MIB - to reunite with him and prevent earth's ultimate destruction.

Theatrical report

Men In Black 2 is everything you'd expect from the sequel to Men In Black: more aliens, bigger aliens, more gadgets, bigger gadgets, more special effects, bigger special effects. It's also got a really good sense of integrity, as if the people who made the second outing care about what happens to the franchise (ie it ain't all about money).

Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith are back in black with all the fervour and intensity of the first film, with the added twist that they're now in opposite positions: K is the newbie and J is the .... oldbie. At least that's how things start out. By the middle of the film, things are back where they belong and the universe is in the safest hands .... in the universe. (Hmmm .... must stop thinking in clichés.) Lara Flynn Boyle is the geekboy's bitch-babe wet dream. Say no more.

Men In Black 2 is about as good as you can get with a sequel: it's as good as the first one but it's the second one. Enjoy it anyway, once you've been black you'll never go back.
