Long night's journey into day: South Africa's search for truth and reconciliation
Threat advisory: High - High risk of entertaining activities
Movie propaganda
Filmed over the course of two years, this documentary looks at South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Committee, which serves to bring together those on both sides of human rights abuses and crimes that occurred under apartheid. In other words, in a case such as the Cradock Four, where four men were killed by a police officer, the TRC brings the widows and the police officer together so that he can admit what he did. It's about forgiveness and discussion rather than punishment... or maybe sometimes telling the truth is punishment enough?
