The truth shall set you free - or get you into a heap of trouble! It's a mile-a-minute fun from start to finish as comic genius Jim Carrey pulls out all the stops in this uproarious smash hit from the director and producers of The nutty professor.
Fletcher Reede (Jim Carrey) is a fast-talking attorney and habitual liar. When his son Max (Justin Cooper) blows out the candles on his fifth birthday cake, he has just one wish - that his dad will stop lying for 24 hours. When Max's wish miraculously comes true, Fletcher discovers that his biggest asset - his mouth - has suddenly become his biggest liability! Hilarious havoc ensues as Fletcher tries to keep his practice afloat and his ex-wife Audrey (Maura Tierney) from taking their son and moving to Boston.
Also starring Jennifer Tilly, Swoosie Kurtz, Amanda Donohoe and Cary Elwes, and featuring extended out-take footage, this madcap comedy is both heartwarming and outrageously funny (Michael Medved, New York Post).
For good, honest belly laughs, trust Liar liar.

Theatrical report
Jim Carrey bouncing back from The cable guy to do what his public want him to do best and making lots of money ($300,000,000+ at the box office) from it in a formulaic film that is nothing more than a way for studios to make money and so that Jim Carrey can bounce back from...
Which is not to say that it isn't an often funny, sometimes hilarious film. There's a whole heap of froth and bubble which is unfortunately spoiled by traditional American family values as interpreted by Hollywood demographic doctors. As you would already have guessed, there is a happy ending and everyone lives happily ever after (except the new boyfriend but he was usurping the position of the traditional male parental figure - and a dweeb to boot - so he had to go). Everyone does what they do well, but there's nothing particularly special to write about. Good for an uncomplicated night with pizza and diet coke (to cancel out all the calories from the pizza).
