Movie propaganda

The gang's all here.

Riggs and Murtaugh are back.

Rarely has an action movie created heroes who connected so directly with the viewing public. The crowds who cheered Lethal weapon felt as though they knew Riggs and Murtaugh personally - and they wanted to know them better. In 1989 Lethal weapon 2 added Joe Pesci in a scene-stealing role as the fast-talking Leo Getz and out-earned its predecessor. Lethal weapon 3, the highest grossing movie in the group, opened in 1992 and introduced Rene Russo in a starring role as Martin Riggs' love interest and fellow daredevil detective, Lorna Cole. Since then, audiences have clamoured for the return of Riggs, Murtaugh, Cole and Getz on-screen.

Now they're getting their wish.

The quartet is joined by junior detective Lee Butters (Chris Rock), as the team struggles to unravel a series of crimes involving immigrant smuggling and counterfeiting. Their leads converge on a man named Wah Sing Ku (Jet Li), a fiercely disciplined Asian Triad princeling bent on a complex and deadly mission.

Theatrical report

There's nothing added to the cut but the improved sound and picture quality of this ultimate sequel make up for it. Anyway, where would they have put any new scenes? By this stage the actors and the writers are getting a bit tired and it's starting to show, but it's still a rocking good action film.
