Movie propaganda
The last of the Mohicans is an adventure and romance set during the third year of the war raging between England and France in the North American colonies. Each side has forged alliances with native peoples and the country beyond Albany, New York, is aflame. Moving through this frontier is Hawkeye (aka Nathaniel - Daniel Day-Lewis), adopted son of the Mohican Chingachgook (Russell Means) and his Mohican brother, Uncas (Eric Schweig). The mohicans are a vanishing people, and these three men are heading west to winter with their ethnic cousins the Delaware in their towns on the Ohio, where Uncas will find a wife and perpetuate their line. However, en route they break up an ambush, led by the Huron war Captain Magua (Wes Studi) and save Cora (Madeleine Stowe) and Alice Munro (Jodhi May), daughters of a British officer, and their companion, Major Duncan Heyward (Steven Waddington). They agree to guide them as far as Fort William Henry. In so doing all their fates become intertwined as Hawkeye and Cora become lovers and the group fights to survive the war and the wilderness.

Theatrical report
It doesn't matter how many times I watch The last of the Mohicans, it still passes the big eject button test (although watching it in fast backwards is creepy). The surround sound is so cool that if you haven't got your DVD player hooked up to your stereo then you should. If you haven't got a DVD player, then you should do that, too: DVD is the way to go.
