Movie propaganda
In an old Paris apartment block, Zao (James Hong), an elderly Chinese man, crosses paths with Sarah (Leelee Sobieski), who has just moved in across the hallway. An Australian touring in a French theatre company, she's a frustrated actress working as an understudy - to her lover's wife. To Zao's mild surprise, she says when she finally gets her crack at a leading role in Paris, she'll create a scandal by committing suicide. Her Chinese neighbour proposes a pact: he'll cook for her until that fateful date. And so begins an ambiguous and subtly erotic friendship, under ever watchful and envious eyes of the building's other inhabitants, all of whom do their best to disrupt this mystifying relationship.Persons of interest
