A world light years beyond your imagination.
"This it was given me to know, that many worlds have been enslaved by the Beast and his army, the Slayers. And this too was given me to know, that the Beast would come to our world, the world of Krull, and his black fortress would be seen in the land, that the smoke of burning villages would darken the sky, and the cries of the dying would echo through deserted valleys. But one thing I cannot know, whether the prophecy be true, that a girl of ancient name shall become Queen, that she shall choose a King, and that together they shall rule our world, and that their son shall rule the galaxy."
The indescribable monster and its army, the Slayers, attack the planet Krull. To be able to stop the invaders two hostile nations decide to join their forces by the marriage of Princess Lyssa (Lysette Anthony) and Prince Colwyn (Ken Marshall). During the ceremony the Slayers attack the palace, kill both Kings, wound Colwyn and kidnap Lyssa. At the next morning the wise Ynyr (Freddie Jones) seeks and finds Colwyn. With Ynyr's help Colwyn gains possession of a magic weapon the five blade sword and together they go on their quest for the indescribable monster's black fortress to free Lyssa.

Theatrical report
From what I remember - I watched this flick several times during the early 80s because there was not much other science fiction around - Krull is a standard "evil space aliens invade magical medieval kingdom in pursuit of ruling the universe" film. Then good-guy hero and his band of assorted sub-heroes do battle, save the girl and kill the baddie thereby ensuring peace for evermore and the grateful thanks of the galaxy. There's lots of sword fantasy stuff but Star wars it ain't. One for the hard-core sci-fi collector.
