A detective is searching for a deadly collector. His only hope is the woman who got away.
When Doctor Alex Cross (Morgan Freeman), a Washington DC police detective and forensic psychologist, learns that his niece has disappeared from university in North Carolina, an apparent kidnapping victim, he heads for the town of Durham to conduct his own investigation. Out of his jurisdiction, Cross risks the wrath of local law enforcement officials as he plunges ahead in his investigation using his extraordinary expertise in deductive reasoning.
Cross is aided in his pursuit by Kate McTiernan (Ashley Judd), a strong-willed and determined young doctor who has information vital to unravelling the mystery. She joins him in the hunt, and together they race against time to find Cross's niece and the chilling truth behind her disappearance.

I haven't had a preview video and I saw the film a long time ago, so the details are a bit sketchy, but I remember that I really enjoyed watching Kiss the girls and that everyone should have a look at it.
Some parts are hackneyed (how many variations on detective or serial killer films can there be?) but it doesn't make much difference because the thrills come from what is done, not how it's done. If that makes sense. (My analgesics have kicked in.)
Anyhoo, see it.
