Theatrical report
The pulp detective story has been a mainstay of Hollywood movies and
Kiss, kiss, bang, bang is well and truly part of that genre. Robert Downey Junior plays the part of the innocent (idiot) well, although not so well as William H Macy in A slight case of murder. Val Kilmer is odd as the real private detective, not because he's gay but because he's playing second fiddle to Robert, whom he overshadows.
If you like mysteries in Hollywood then Kiss, kiss, bang, bang is good for you.
