Movie propaganda

A knight in shining overalls.

From the biggest festival to the smallest church social, Kenny (Shane Jacobson) delivers porta-loos to them all. Ignored and unappreciated, he is one of the cogs in humanity's machinery, an unsung hero taking care of society's dirty work. This fly-on-the-wall dramatised documentary lifts the lid on one of Australia's roughest diamonds as he juggles family emergencies, fatherhood and sewage with grace, humour and unflinching dignity. The film follows Kenny and his faithful crew as they embrace every septic challenge that comes their way, culminating in a trip to that Mecca of waste management, the International Pumper and Cleaner Expo in Nashville - or as Kenny affectionately calls it, "Poo HQ". And yet, no matter what heights he reaches in his field of expertise, Kenny knows his biggest challenge is still to come: proving himself to the one person or whom he's always been a disappointment - his father. Part philosopher, part comedian, all heart. Kenny is living proof that in sewage, as in life, the best will always rise to the top.

Theatrical report

Kenny is a low-key film about a low-key man in a low-key job. You might find this funny. I didn't the first time I saw it, but, like something left in the bottom of a porta-loo, it's growing on me.
